In time – The movie

In the not too distant future, the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities.

Welcome to a world where time has become the ultimate currency. You stop aging at 25, but there is a catch: you’re genetically-engineered to live only one more year, unless you can buy your way out of it. The rich “earn” decades at a time (remaining at age 25), becoming essentially immortal, while the rest beg, borrow or steal enough hours to make it through the day.

If we think a little bit about our situation today, we are not that far from what is discussed in this movie: We spend our time working to get money, than we spend our money buying things. A 100 000 $ car can be bought in 10 years of continuous work. Is it worth 10 years of my live?

The rich are lucky to live, the poor die young (famine, health problem etc.)
